Qualcomm Introduces Snapdragon G Series Chips for High-Performance Handheld and Mobile Gaming
Qualcomm makes strong chips for phones called SoCs, like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. These compete with Apple’s A series. Now, Qualcomm is telling us about a new chip like the Snapdragon G3x from 2021, which was in a Razer Console.
They made a few new chips like the G3x. These chips are for handheld gaming consoles. They make games look very real and work for a long time on a single charge.
Snapdragon G3X Gen 2: Information
Let’s start with the best chip in the G Series. The new Snapdragon G3X Gen 2 is an improvement over the old G3X Gen 1. The old one isn’t fast enough anymore, so this upgrade is good.
Qualcomm says the new G3X Gen 2 is the best chip for gamers. It has an 8-core Kyro CPU and Adreno A32 GPU. This makes graphics look 2 times better, says Qualcomm.
The CPU is 30% faster than before. That’s not as big a change as the graphics. Still, the new G3X Gen 2 is going to be super-fast.
Qualcomm is working with brands like Inventec, Ayaneo, Huaqin, Thundercomm, and others to make new handhelds with this chip.
The new chip also has Wi-Fi 7, which makes wireless internet much better. The Wi-Fi 7 can use many Wi-Fi radios at the same time to be even faster. It also supports 5G sub-6 and mmWave for lightning-fast internet speed.
The G3X Gen 2 will also have other things like better-looking games, XR glass tethering, fast Bluetooth audio, and a special way to make graphics look even better (hardware accelerated ray tracing).
Snapdragon G1 Gen 1 & G2 Gen 1 Also Announced
Qualcomm also made Snapdragon G1 and G2 chips. G1 is for gaming consoles that play games from the internet. It’s made to be very fast online and has a long battery life. It has an 8-Core Kyro CPU with Adreno A11 GPU.
G2 is in the middle. It’s for really good mobile gaming and playing games from the cloud. It uses 5G and Wi-Fi 6E, which is super-fast. Qualcomm also made sure it had good connections.
G2 has an 8-Core Kyro CPU and an Adreno A21 GPU. You can play games that look great at 144 frames per second. It’s not the very best, but it’s still powerful for playing games that look amazing.
