Hideo Kojima Unveils Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Coming in 2025
The revelation of Death Stranding 2 during the PlayStation State of Play event caught many by surprise. The first game, though polarizing, delivered a comprehensive cinematic experience. Creator Hideo Kojima, evidently brimming with more creative ideas, presented a sneak peek of the upcoming Death Stranding 2 game in a new trailer.
Titled Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, the trailer maintains the enigmatic and eerie atmosphere of its predecessor. The exclusive launch for PlayStation 5 is slated for 2025.
Following the events of Death Stranding, Lea Seydoux’s character, Fragile, establishes a new civilian faction called Drawbridge. Their objective is to reconnect to a fresh destination, seemingly located in Mexico and the surrounding American regions. The game unfolds years after Sam goes AWOL in the original Death Stranding alongside Louise.
After the reconnection of America, the UCA (United Cities of America) retreats, leaving most of the world isolated and eliminating the need for Porters. Fragile establishes Drawbridge to continue the UCA’s work, reconnecting it to other parts of the world. In Death Stranding 2, players will operate from a new base, the DHV Mejallan, located at Sam’s position as he enhances network coverage in various locations within Mexico. The trailer also reveals new biomes, including rocky terrains, deserts, and a metropolitan city.
The returning villain Higgs made an appearance, donning a hairstyle resembling Amelie from Death Stranding and showcasing an affinity for rock-and-roll this time. The trailer introduces a talking doll, the captain of DHV Mejallan, a mysterious new ninja character, and another enigmatic female character.
Death Stranding 2 appears to be a culmination of refined features from the previous game, with enhancements and the addition of new elements. Coupled with the upcoming movie, it seems that fans are in for a delightful experience.
