Emdoor Reveals the First Gaming Handheld Featuring Intel’s 14th-Gen Processor Lineup
The Chinese company presented the Emdoor EM-GP080MTL at the Hong Kong Electronics Fair 2023 event. Notebook Italia, a media outlet, was on hand to examine the handheld.
As mentioned, it is based on the upcoming Intel 14th Gen processors, taking full advantage of the brand-new architecture. This Emdoor handheld is powered by the Intel Arc 5 graphics card, integrated into the Meteor Lake-H-based CPU. This also confirms the branding the company will use for its integrated GPUs.
The Meteor Lake processor is a significant development, with this particular SoC capable of reaching up to 20–35W. Although the specific processor model hasn’t been disclosed, a glimpse reveals that the Arc 5 GPU can achieve speeds of up to 3.0GHz. In terms of performance expectations, Intel exclusively showcased an Intel Arc Alchemist-based GPU in Malaysia a few months ago.
“And now we witness an unnamed Intel 14th Gen Meteor Lake processor capable of playing Forza Horizon 5 at approximately 60FPS on 1080p.”
However, performance figures for this particular gaming handheld showcased by Emdoor are not yet available. Nevertheless, the Xe-Cores in this graphics card are anticipated to be potent enough for today’s latest AAA games. A video (via: Notebook Italia) did display God Of War running smoothly on the gaming console.
Regarding its display specifications, it boasts an 8-inch screen with a 1920 x 1200 resolution. It will be available with up to 32GB LPDDR5X RAM. Storage support goes up to a 2TB PCIe Gen 4x4 drive. The device indeed appears robust and capable of handling pressure and heat. With this product, the company is targeting handhelds in the league of the Asus ROG Ally, Nintendo Switch, and, of course, Valve’s Steam Deck.
Emdoor is among the first companies to showcase a new handheld based on this processor. What are your thoughts on the upcoming Emdoor EM-GP080MTL Gaming handheld? Share your opinions in the comments below.
